Ok, tried that option and the sound looping/repeating starts immediately at login.

These lines now in the dmesg at boot:
[ 46.152017] hda_intel: No response from codec, disabling MSI: last cmd=0x001f0500
[ 46.152086] hda-intel: IRQ timing workaround is activated for card #0. Suggest a bigger bdl_pos_adj.

...everything else the same.
