I'm a little worried that months have gone by and this still isn't fixed, or even seeing any recent activity. Sound is STILL not working properly on a system that should be among the easiest to support. (Dell Inspiron 1420n)

At least the problem is no longer rooted in the kernel, since suspending while playing media can kickstart sound, but this still needs a real fix.
