When upgrading the kernel I've experienced a similar bug (I'm using stock-kernel). My headphones don't output any sound. It's fixed kind-of-permanently (until next upgrade) if I run similar commands to #7 and restart.
I take out the headphones then run:
rm -rf ~/.config/pulse/ && pulseaudio -k && sudo alsa force-reload
Then I reboot manually
