[HP EliteBook 8560w, IDT 92HD81B1X5, Speaker, Internal] No sound at all

After an update a few weeks ago the internal speakers on my laptop stopped working. Audio from headphones works fine. Tried upgrading version of Ubuntu but still won't work.

Update originally came through software updater.  I upgraded through software updater also.

the pulseaudio speaker path does not contain pcm playback volume

you should follow up the above pulseaudio bug report if you are using dock station

if you don't use the dock station

remove the fixup of the dock line out and dock mic pin so that the speaker has it own playback volume control

ask pulseaudio developer whether need to tell pulseaudio the PCM playback volume control is shared by speaker and dock line out
