First, run this command to gather information:
apport-collect 1133132

Next, if you can reproduce the issue, make a verbose pulseaudio log
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/PulseAudio/Log

Finally, instead of rebooting after losing sound, try reloading alsa instead:
sudo alsa force-reload

You are using a version of Ubuntu (11.04/Natty) that is relatively older than the hardware. Natty is also at EOL for support. My suggestion would be to try a newer version of Ubuntu on a LiveUSB/DVD and see if the issue still exists. If you're interested in long-term support for your product, it may be a good idea to use Ubuntu 12.04.

hi Dave,

i can recheck with a live 12.04.
i have multiple partitions with ubuntu 12.04 and other systems incld. arch, all distros are reporting the same issue.
i can recheck with a live 12.04 DVD now.

hi Dave,

the audio failed during a flash video in firefox (youtube) and i have captured the pulseaudio log during the failure.
Any failure event logged should at the tail end of the file.

hi,

i rebooted again into the system (kernel 2.6.38) again, audio was working fine.
So i started skype and flash video in ff and epiphany simultaneously, to examine.

i lost audio in ff and epiphany after about 3-4 minutes, while video worked.
i lost skype output audio, but input continued to work (the other guy could hear me but i could not hear him).
is there anything we can do to capture this incident once it happens again. is it helpful!!!!
