Bug Description

Binary package hint: alltray

I start my GNOME session with thunderbird minimized to the tray.
The command I use is 'alltray -na -stask thunderbird'

Whenever I click the thunderbird icon in the tray, it snaps into view.
If I click in the tray again (or close the window) it hides itself back in the tray.
But, after some time using it, thunderbird (or any other program) will NOT
snap into view again when I click the tray icon. It does not show up.

The only option I have is closing the program and starting it again.
This happens with the latest version in Ubuntu Gutsy.
Compiz is activated.

Same problem here (but I'm not using -stask). Seems to be that the window receives focus but stays minimized, and due to the fact that you are using -stask (i.e. --skip-taskbar), you can't see the focussed-yet-minimized window on the taskbar.

Is this still a problem with Hardy Heron, or with the testing package available on https://edge.launchpad.net/~mtrausch/+archive for the Hardy release? I've attempted to duplicate it there, but am not able to do so; when I minimize the window and then click my tray icon, the window comes back (becomes un-minimized, but doesn't dock) which seems to be the right thing to do there.

When I run it with -stask, the minimize button appears to behave similar to the close button on the window, in that the window disappears and clicking on the Alltray icon for it will bring it back.

Yes, it is still a problem.

Please refer to this bug:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alltray/+bug/106583

As was put there by Mackenzie Morgan:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alltray/+bug/106583/comments/21

And refer to this forum thread:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=764557&page=2

I didn't test the package you referenced, only the original Hardy one.
Currently, I use this package:
http://ppa.launchpad.net/mtrausch/ubuntu/pool/main/a/alltray/alltray_0.69-1ubuntu2~ppa1_i386.deb

Although you can probably close this bug or mark it as duplicate.
This problem seems like it is being worked on in the above referenced bug.
