Bug Description

Binary package hint: alacarte

When I'm moving (actually copying, referring to bug #116503) Items in alacarte from one folder to another, the focus changes to the destination folder. I feel that it should remain focused on the source folder so I don't have to keep navigating back when moving a lot of items. If you think about it, 100% of all move behavior on any operating system works this way by default; it doesn't open up the target folder you just dropped onto. I don't see any reason why alacarte should be any different.

Ubuntu 8.04.1
x86-64

Great Idea! I would kick this bug up a notch and allow the user to ctrl-click or shift-click multiple items and bulk-move them (or for that matter allow the user to turn them off in one click when multiple items are selected). That way you don't have to "keep navigating back when moving a lot of items" as you say.

Confirmed still for Karmic, and I remember there being ctrl or shift clicks that supposedly will move icons instead of copy them, but every drag and drop action still just copies the menu item instead of moving it.

So here are all the extra steps that go into moving 2 menu entries:

1) click icon and drag to new folder
2) navigate back to source folder
3) delete old icon
4) click second icon and drag to new folder
5) navigate back to source folder
6) delete old icon

and it should be: (move instead of copy by DEFAULT, who has multiple entries of stuff in their menu? no one, people want to move not copy stuff)

1) click icon and drag to new folder
2) click second icon and drag to new folder
3) get beer

And, like bug #116503, IT STILL EXISTS in Ubuntu 10.10, Alacarte 0.13.2 ... But, unlike #116503, this one is only 2 years old...
