Bug Description

Binary package hint: alacarte

Drag and dropping triggers a "copy" operation, therefore a + sign appears next to the cursor, but when pushing shift while dnd, the cursor loses the + sign, but the move operation is not implemented... Therefore, it's impossible to directly move an item out of it's current directory.

Also, if I dnd an item inside of it's source folder, it's a MOVE (but the cursor still shows a + sign), but if it's outside of its source folder, than it's a COPY.... That's inconsistent behaviour.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Could you try to reproduce the same with Ubuntu 8.10 or 9.04? Thanks in advance.

This is very much still a bug in Jaunty, post alpha 6

Drag on it's own copies (which I think is incorrect - it should MOVE by default - who wants to duplicate menu items?)

Drag-ctrl removes the +, indicating it is going to copy, but this is not allowed.

(The focus moves to the destination folder after a copy. I think it should stay in the source folder. this is another wishlist item I guess.)

I don't know about the Gnome usability requirements, but I strongly expect that we don't match up.

And IT STILL EXISTS in Ubuntu 10.10, Alacarte 0.13.2. The patch from:
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=601514
replaces copy operations with move operations, and copy doesn't work after that. Is there a chance that this bug will ever be resolved (it's 3 years since it's original report)?
