Bug Description

Whilst using Aegisub to produce closed captions, I swapped to another program to seek a translation for some text (I swapped into Firefox & called up Google Translate).

When I returned to the Aegisub window to continue captioning, audio and video played back at double speed, and I could find no obvious cause for this.

I tried running Aegisub with GDB, performed the same procedure and GDB caught nothing.

The fault stops if you close the current caption file, video and audio, then reload it and start again. However, it immediately reoccurs if you swap from it to any other window.

1) The release of Ubuntu you are using: Ubuntu 16.04

2) The version of the package you are using: Aegisub 3.2.2+dfsg-3

3) What you expected to happen: Video and audio to play at normal speed, regardless of whether I swap windows or not.

4) What happened instead: Video and audio play at double speed if you focus on any window other than Aegisub.

Same here. Same version of aegisub. But Mint Mate 20. Kernel: 5.4.0-42-generic
I load any .mp4 file to add subtitles. I play the video file. While the video itself plays with correct speed the sound track plays much faster. 3 times as fast? Because the sound track finishes while the video track is around 1/3 of the complete video file.

Reproduce: Just install it: "sudo apt install aegisub"
Run: aegisub-3.2
Open any .mp4 video file.
Play the file. (Subs not even added. But even with added subs - no change)

I had this issue as well, and this was the setting I changed to fix it:

View -> Options -> Advanced -> Audio -> Audio Player: Change it to something else.

There is no guarantee whether this would work or not, though, considering this bug only happened on my Mint 19.1 (with no such bug beforehand. It just happened after a long time of not using it) and not on my Ubuntu 18.04 despite both of them are using "ALSA" as their Audio Player.
