@Milan: It was present in Karmic beta but not in Karmic final. I think it went away with kernel v 2.6.31-14, but I'm not certain.
@Nicolas: Hmm...point taken, but I would say it depends then. In a debug version of Ubuntu, we should probably leave it for examination; but in a release version, we should make things as comfortable for the user as possible, and recover from every error in the best possible way.
