Body does not maximize when maximizing the window

Adobe Acrobat Reader 9.2 10/06/2009, fresh install from the karmic repositories on ubuntu karmic:
Version package: 9.2-1karmic1

When I click to maximize the window, the window itself maximizes however the body that contains the document does not, it stays the same size, and fills up the rest with a grey background.
Resizing the windows on the other hand works fine, and leads to resizing of the contents, I more or less expect the same behavour when maximizing the screen.

I got the same problem in jaunty, but only on 64bit machine.
This problem is present also in other SW packages like COMSOL.

Oddly, I seem to have picked up 9.2-1 AND 9.3-1 at the same time?!?

I've never seen this before - but that's a side issue. This is one annoying bug. I use evince for some things, but in certain situations acroread is the best tool. I'd hate to give it up. I wonder how long the edit-compile-debug cycle is at Adobe these days...?

Worse: it looks like it may have been a security update - there's no way to back it out.

I cast one big vote for this bug....

Same issue here guys. Running Ubuntu 9.10 with Adobe Reader 9.3. The only way to maximize is by manually dragging the edges.

I solved this problem by disabling Compiz/Beryl/Whatever Effects (System->Preferences->Apperance->None).

Note: COMSOL 3.5 maximizes its windows with Normal Effects (System->Preferences->Apperance->Normal).

I have the same problem in Ubuntu 10.04, and had it already in 9.10.
Disabling effects (Appearance -> None) does not help.

@Daniel Kullmann: I can confirm this behaviour. We have a similar setup. Maximize works ok on the laptop screen but not on the external monitor.

I can confirm that this only happens on some of the screens in a multiple screen setup.

I have three screens, across two graphics cards, using Xinerama and with the middle screen as the primary (0 numbered) x-screen. This bug appears on the primary screen but not the left or right screens.

All effects are disabled with no difference.

Bus is still present in Ubuntu 10.10, acroread version 9.4.1-1maverick1. adobereader-deu version 9.4.1-1maverick1 shows the same problem.

Workaround: Maximise (Alt-Space X), then press Ctrl-L, Escape two times (go into fullscreen modus and leave it, two times). First time maximises the window vertically, second time the window is completely maximised.

Bug present in Natty (had it on Maverick before) with dual screen setup on one screen.

The workaround from Daniel works for me.

On the "working" screen I can sometimes see that Acrobat at first scales up the window and in a second step its content. If this is the case, the second step is obviously broken.

Years ago I had similar issues when several applications obviously had issues with negative coordinates, when secondary screen is to the left of the primary screen.

Daniel's workaround worked, but the bottom Gnome-panel would overlap with the bottom portion of the window. Another possible workaround would be to move either the top or the bottom panel to the different screen. The window would now maximize just fine on either monitor. Having both panels on the same screen is precisely the cause for this problem.
