It seems that Adobe has no Linux versions of modern Reader: according to http://www.adobe.com/products/reader/tech-specs.html there are no X and XI for Linux. I have had some problems with PDF Portfolio files. I viewed them in Adobe Reader X (or XI, I do not remember exactly) installed to Wine. Adobe Reader works normally on Wine.
