Bug Description

I recently upgraded my laptop running Edgy Knot 3 to the Beta release. When, I restarted, my system just hangs there. I can't even get a console with Alt-Ctrl-F1.

So, I decided to do a fresh install. Same problem again.

Although, I can start GNOME manually if I boot in single-user mode:
$ /etc/init.d/dbus start
$ gdm

I found out the problem only happen when acpid is running.

So, I did:
$ cd /etc/init.d/
$ update-rc.d -f acpid remove

Now, my system boot fine in multi-user mode.

I have the same issue on my laptop. I haven't tried reinstalling or disabling acpid yet, but I will report back after disabling acpid to confirm whether that works for me.

I would just like to say that my laptop is a Toshiba Satellite 4600 Pro.

So, when I disabled acpid, the system booted just fine, but I would get an error at startup about something not being able to access acpi stuff. (I'll post back with the real error)

Now, after some updates, I re-enabled acpid and the system still boots, but after gnome starts, I still get the error saying that the acpi something-or-others couldn't be accesed...(same as above error)
