 Looking over this bug it might be possible to tweek a laptop and hard drive hardware listing for affected hard drives. In affect a bugged bug hardware list. This could possibly help structure the handling of this bug and help with fixes for specific models. Also a listing on the hardware compatibility page could help address this problem and help distribute fixes pertaining to makes and models.

 Though one bug it spans a lot of subtopics as in models etc.
