The fix is not that easy (i thought it was when i posted the Debian fix, but it isn't, as that causes trouble somewhere else).

Situation now:
Use laptop-mode to control your hd power management if you think your hard drive will die otherwise.
This option has always existed. Use it!

Hint: sudo gedit /etc/laptop-mode/laptop-mode.conf
