I began investigating on my own and found out that if the problem is triggered by the xserver-xorg-input-synaptics, the latest Edgy version is 0.14.6-0ubuntu3, so the problem must then have been triggered between version 0.14.6-0ubuntu4 and 0.14.6-0ubuntu7. It also seems like the problem isn't source-code related.
Heres the changelog snippet between version 0.14.6-0ubuntu4 and 0.14.6-0ubuntu7:

I'm not very computer savvy, so could someone else see if there's something in this changelog that could trigger this bug?
