Since my last post I have been trying to obtain such a console output, and trying a "normal boot" everytime usplash gets updated -- with the same results: computer hangs and caps lock blinks. I can't post a boot log because nothing seems to be written to any file in /var/log/ when usplash crashes (not even the kernel log). Also, I have found that serial cables are not homosexual, so my I guess the only way out is a visit to my local computer shop u_u.
