Hello,

I posted the requested files, but status remains incomplete. Can I do anything more to move things forward ?

This bug did not have a package associated with it, which is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage . I have classified this bug as a bug in linux.

Romualdou, after providing the requested files you can always change the status to new if the original triager doesn't followup because other triagers won't normally check incomplete bugs.

OK, I did read the doc, and my choice would be for "kernel" as a package. I don't know if I should update that somewhere in the bug description, or if the classification as "bug in Linux" made by Walter is enough...

Thanks Romualdou. I also thought the same, and "linux" is indeed the package where bugs against the kernel have to be filed.

Hi,

20 days later, nothing happens. I'm not familiar with bug tracking, but when I see "unassigned" and "undecided" at the top, I get the feeling nobody is looking at it. But I might be wrong.

Anything more I can do to get things moving?

Romualdou, the steps are first for the bug to get "confirmed", which means that there is enough evidence that it really happened to you and/or somebody else experienced the same, and then to get "triaged", which means somebody authorized has determined that the report contains all the information needed for the developers to work in it.

You are right that at this moment nobody is looking at this specific report, but there could be some similar report being worked upon. So things that can be done is looking for bugs that could be duplicates, or trying to provide more specific steps to reproduce the bug.

OK.

If some evidence is needed to show that I'm not the only case, please have a look at following thread.

Hello,

things are now solved, with following comments.
- downgrade to 10.04 LTS solves the issue. (But the available software is not matching my needs anymore)
- upgrade to 11.10 also solves the issue. (But Unity and Gnome Shell are really nothing for me, I consider that Nautilus has been _downgraded_ moving from 11.04 to 11.10).

-> Finally I choose to move to Kubuntu 11.10, which solves the issue and leaves me with a reasonably flexible desktop configuration.

End of the story as far as I'm concerned, thanks to those who tried to help...

Kubuntu is of course an excellent option, I'm closing the bug report, please feel free to reopen (marking it as "new" again) if you still would like to continue reporting on this issue.

This problem happens to me rather often in 11.04 and I would like to add a few details that people seem to have missed. Often when I try to resume and the screen remains blank I have discovered that it is ONLY blank and the log in window is actually there like normal and I can type my password to get in, I just have to do it blind. The screen comes back up after that. Other times it doesn't work however, but once I seem to recall the screen coming up and finding my password typed out a few times in gEdit as if it simply took a little while for the screen to come back.
