That's what it installed with the package gnome. After removing and testing, it made no difference. The only difference I see if that the previous kernel I got from 10.10 is working and the newer one is not....and my brightness control shows an indicator, but doesn't do anything... I don't have to report that as a separate issue, do I?
Yeah, I removed those 88 packages after identifying them in synaptics....was fun copying and pasting into gedit...now called texteditor...
