I found the solution to fix this probleam

step 1 You need to find out your desktop resolution . You can find this information by gowing to system in your menu bar , then click on the control center icon. When the control center icon open look for a icon that say display . A box may appear with a choice just select no . Then the display preference panel will open. in there you will see a box that has your resolution in it . For example 800X600 . Write down on a piece of papper the screen resolution before you go to the next step.

stept 2 at the log in screen press CTRL+Alt+F1,

step 3 type the following at your command prompt

export DISPLAY=:0.0 and press the enter key on your keyboard

stept 4 after pressing the enter key you may be asked to enter your password so just enter your password and press the enter key on your keyboard

step 5 after your computer go back to the command prompt type the following command
sudo -u gdm gnome-control-center and press the enter key on your keyboard
if your are ask for your password just enter your password and press the enter key again .
you may see a errors masage on your screen just it ok ,just go to the next step

step 6 after pressing the enter key in the previous step and when you are back at the command prompt stops press CTRL+F7

step 7. now you should be back to The Gnome Control Center should appear (it looks exactly the same as The Gnome Control Center found in system on your ubuntu menu bar, but , it relates to the login screen in this case.)

step 8 now select in the control center panel the Display icon . when the display icon open you will see a other panel .

step 9 in the display preference panel you will see a place were it say RESOLUTION. beside it his a box that has a arows menu . click with your mouse on the arows and you will see defferent choice of resolution. select the same resolution that you wrote on a piece of papper in step 1 , then click apply with your mouse

step 10 close the dispay panel and the control panel then restart your computers by selecting the log out icon then click on restart.

step 11 if everething worked ok , then when you computer reboot and go back to the command prompt your log in screen will be fix with the right resolution
