Comment 6 for bug 447816

Had this happen to me too. A notification would be handy, as I panicked and and rebooted twice before seeing the fsck processes running in background.

Also, does anyone have a clue about how to check the progress of these disk checks ? I have a few drives with a lot of small files on them; and they normally take quite a long time; so a progress indication would be nice
