Bug Description
I switched clean (new installation) to Ubuntu 9.04 64bit from 8.10 64 bit. I have a HP 6715s with AMD X2 and ATI x1250.
When i boot Ubuntu the cooling fan starts every 30 seconds with CPU @800MHz and PowerTop shows a power consumption of 19 watts. With Ubuntu Ibex it was every 5 Minutes for less then 10 seconds and a power consumption of 13 watts. I think there is something wrong with the free xorg driver radeon maybe.
Someone told me to switch off the tracker-service - i tried with no effect. The Problem is also reported in german at http://

I have a similar problem on my Acer Aspire 2920 with intel video card. The fan runs permanently. I don't have installed tracker but I have downgraded my intel driver to 2.4: https:/ /wiki.edubuntu. org/ReinhardTar tler/X/ RevertingIntelD riverTo2. 4 because I didn't have the problem with Intrepid Ibex. Nothing worked. The fan still runs permanently.
My harddisk gots a little bit too warm:
$ sudo hddtemp /dev/sda
/dev/sda: WDC WD3200BEVT-22ZCT0: 56°C
$ sudo acpi -t
Battery 0: Full, 100%
Thermal 0: ok, 43.0 degrees C
Thermal 1: ok, 45.0 degrees C
Top shows mainly xorg and firefox on the top:
