Bug Description

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-input-evdev

Started happening after upgrading to 9.04 and xserver 1.6

My external logitech mouse (optical with microusb receiver) started working oddly when using the middle mouse button combined with Alt to resize windows.

The middle mouse button spontaneously Releases while holding it down. example: alt-MMB to resize a window is not usable since it for no apparent reason releases the button press without my doing anything.
I have tried the same mouse on xserver 1.5.2 (ubuntu 8.10), and there it works as expected.

dmesg output:

I should emphasize that the touchpad (laptop is Vaio VGN-FW21M) does not exhibit this problem, it's only the USB mouse.

Is there any way to get more debug information from evdev?

Here are the relevant sections from Xorg.0.log from first an Ubuntu 8.10 machine, where the mouse works properly, and then 9.04 where the mmb has problems:

We're closing this bug since it is has been some time with no response from the original reporter. However, if the issue still exists please feel free to reopen with the requested information. Also, if you could, please test against the latest development version of Ubuntu, since this confirms the bug is one we may be able to pass upstream for help.
