Hello Adam,

I am using Kubuntu 8.10, off a CD I just received about two or three weeks ago.
I am running it on an 7 year old dell with out any issues, other then
some errors with some of the update filles I downloaded when I first
put the software on.

Last night I tried to install 8.10 on a ACER thats about 2 years old,
I installed a new disk and did not want to install a windows product,
so I loaded 8.10. It seemed to work ok for a while, But after
completing the recommended updates, it got very unstable. First it
kept locking up, then it started asking me to load english, but I had
already done that selection on the install. (I had the same problem
pop up on my Dell as well.) So I rebooted, since I could not get past
it. After that I tried customizing the desktop, that when things got
really unstable and more lock ups and then finally it would only boot
through the login and splash, then it would show and all white screen
(blank) and then a all black screen (blank). After several reboots, I
went and got one of my ubuntu 7.10 disk and loaded that. I has been
running fine since last night.

FYI on my dell I have two disk, one with Kubuntu 8.10 and the other
Unbuntu 7.10, both run fine except the install update errors I said
above.
Thanks
Ron
