1 - I initially installed the default driver proposed from the official ubuntu repository but got my X to freeze at login time (I was keying in user name and pwd and the screen was not getting to the desktop page).
2 - I then installed ati-driver-installer-8-11-x86.x86_64.run as suggested in a few forums. I got to log in but as I mentioned the X freezes when playing videos.
3 - I removed ati-driver-installer-8-11-x86.x86_64.run and got to set up the ATI driver using EnvyNG. It is my understanding EnvyNG is pulling drivers from the official ubuntu repository.
The problem remains...
HOW can I tell you what is the exact driver I have now set up on my computer?
Do you suggest I remove the driver again and I reinstall it from the Drivers set up tool in the Administration section?
Thanks Michael.
