After I start the computer, the situation is a "null" down device:
# hciconfig

If I unplug the USB dongle an plug it again, it becomes a "real" up and running device:

This is much better. But it is still not functioning:
# hcitool scan
Scanning ...
Inquiry failed: Connection timed out

though my mobile Bluetooth telephone is Bluetooth visible (and has always connected without problem under 8.04)
