I have this annoying bug too. The "keys repeat" stops working (it seems to stop randomly) even if the "keys repeat" checkbox stays checked. More info:
- Ubuntu 8.10
- Gnome 2.24.1
- I don't have synergy installed
- I don't have any desktop effects activated
- I don't use NVidia proprietary driver
