Bug Description

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-input-evtouch

Device: Elo TouchSystems, Inc. Elo TouchSystems AccuTouch 3000U

I've been attempting to get this touchscreen working with Hardy, however I can't get the screen calibrated. Out of the box, the cursor is way off screen somewhere whenever it's touched. I attempted to use the calibrate.sh script, but it's not working properly. The second half of it does seem to work (touching the red X's), but the first half, where one is supposed to find the edges of the screen, does nothing. The window doesn't change at all, and doesn't seem to respond until I press Enter to go onto part 2. The output afterwards gives me the hardcoded max and min of 20000 and 0 for both axis.

I can only add my voice, and say that the second part always gives the same result, not too sure why, I'm trying to do it manually, but it seems that X is Y, and everything is a bit odd.

I had to copy empty_cursor.xbm to / to even run the program, unfortunately, I think it is now undeveloped, as in the README it says that he needs to re-write it, really need to get this working, synaptics was out of sync too, I guess I will try lbtouch next.

Hi cybrmatt,

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? (ISOs are available from cdimage.ubuntu.com)

If it remains an issue, could you also attach a new /var/log/Xorg.0.log?
Thanks in advance.

The output of lspci -vvnn would also be worth having.

Still not working I'm afraid. I installed Intrepid and got the monitor on and half working. The display shows up and it does detect touches to the screen, however calibration is still failing. Rather than the old errors, I now at least get a nice failure dialog. It says "No evtouch capable touchscreen found." It requests I mail the lshal output to <email address hidden> which I've now done. I'm also attaching it here.

Bryce Harrington,
I want to report that I am having the same issue Matt reported. I am running Lucid Lynx (upgraded from 9.10) in my HP G60 laptop. I have an ELO 2500U touch screen that when I plug it to my laptop via USB I see Ubuntu recognizes it and also accepts touch clicks, but the coordinates of the clicks are wrong. When I touch the left side of the touch screen is like if I touch the right side of it and viceversa.
I am attaching the file you requested. I will be willing to attach more files to make this work.
regards,
