Kubuntu Hardy doesn't mount USB drive

Bug Description

On Kubuntu Hardy Heron, I can't mount various USB drives.
Accessible via CLI (if it auto-mounts them at all), not not GUI (unleashes havoc like the whole desktop slowing, keyboard stops responding etc).
This bug might be related to:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-mount/+bug/151025
But since that's just for GNOME, I think a KDE bug report should be filed as well.
Dirves I can't mount: Sansa MP3 players of all kinds, Olympus camera
Drives I CAN mount: Hitachi 160GB HDD

This worked fine in Gusty, all auto-detected and dealt with by HAL.

I have the same problem with my desktop machine, but my laptop all works fine. Desktop machine was wiped and reinstalled but the laptop was upgraded from gutsy. If i click on System menu > Storage media dolphin opens up and just says loading directory and it show no drives at all wheras before I plugged int the usb drive I could see both my drive partitions

I think his is has already been reported, sort of...
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/209483/
But that's just for Sony players, while this is more general.
Maybe interconnected.

I discovered that my Sansa View mp3 player is triggering the problem. I can plug in my usb key or my camera and both mount and open fine. When plug in my View it fails to mount and after that I cant see my usb key or camera.

Checked the dmesg output of my laptop (thinkpad a21m) and it appears to be the same although it works perfectly there. Anything else I should try?

A similar (same?) bug happens for me too:
My pendrive is not automounted, and from that moment, no other media is automounted either, and the KDE media status is not refreshed.

So if I insert a CD, it is fine. Then I insert my USB stick, which appears in /dev, but not in KDE. If I remove the CD now, its icon remains on the desktop (and on the Storage Media panel applet).

I can attach logs if it is required, but dmesg and lsusb seems fine (not that I am an expert, though).

Just tried again today and it seems to work fine now. I have run several updates since the last time I tried so perhaps this has been noted and fixed

Indeed. After downloading and installing today's updates (30 megs, lots of KDE packages including kioslaves), the problem has disappeared.

I think this bug can be closed.
