Both my machines are running the x32 version of hardy. My desktop machine processor is a P4 model 640, my laptop processor is a P4 model 530, both do hyperthreading.
The Desktop machine chokes on 2.6.24-15, my laptop doesn't :-/
The 640 is potentially capable of executing x64 instructions but I doubt if that has anything to do with it.
