With Ubuntu 7.04 and Windows Vista Business works the system perfectly. With Ubuntu 7.10 and 8.04 have this problem.
I have AMD Athlon 64 X2 with Asus M2N-E motherboard, 2 piece of 512MB goodram module + 2 piece of 1G kingstone module, 7600 GT VGA and Broadcom AirForce One chipset wifi (Asus).

I disabled the AMD Live, AMD Virtualization, AMD Cool 'N Quiet technology, but the same...
I removed the two kingstone module, and the wget works perfect...
I removed the two goodram module, and the wget works almost perfect...
The memory are checked with memtest86, I don't know maybe Dual-Channel problem?
