confirmed this is still an issue on 2.6.28-6-powerpc Jaunty Jackalope

Boot to "Linux single" results in a screen similar to http://img181.imageshack.us/img181/5517/img0016wo3.jpg

However, ncurses navigation is broken. This is on a iBook G4 PPC.
