Well, in my case it seems not a bug, just some conflicting config files from older tuneups. After removing them 1.20.8 version modesetting driver works fine with hardware acceleration:
$ inxi -c0 -G Graphics: Card-1: Intel 4th Gen Core Processor Integrated Graphics Controller Card-2: NVIDIA GK208M [GeForce GT 740M] Display Server: x11 (X.Org 1.20.8 ) drivers: modesetting (unloaded: fbdev,vesa) Resolution: 1920x1080@60.05hz, 1680x1050@59.95hz OpenGL: renderer: Mesa DRI Intel Haswell Mobile version: 4.5 Mesa 19.2.8
