http://www.bashterritory.com/pytube appears to be not available anymore.

There is a version for Hardy (only), at http://www.getdeb.net/app/PyTube
This also links to the same homepage as above (not available).

Suse Linux has some information and a download at ;

ZeanWalk has a repository at
http://zur.zenwalk.org/view/package/name/pytube

ForesightLinux has a version at https://wiki.foresightlinux.org/display/docs/Pytube
Installation with terminal:
sudo conary update pytube --install-label foresight.rpath.org@fl:2-devel

Both ZeanWalk and Foresight link to the same defunct web site.

* Ability to transfer videos currently being played using Flash towards your desktop ( Linux only )
* Ability to download an unlimited quanitity of videos from YouTube, MyspaceTV, Google Video and Metacafe
* Preconfigured devices support for fast video compability on your device ( Apple iPods, Sony PSP, Flip Mino, Others to come )
* Editing tools such as video rotation, video scaling, inserting a custom audio file into a video file, video merging, cellphone ringtone generator.
* Retrieve profile information and contacts from YouTube members
* Share your favorite videos by exporting a list of video links, or import a list from another user with a few clicks
* Crossplatform Code

The link to the project is posted on the comment made by Eldmannen ( http://www.bashterritory.com/pytube ).
It seems like there are concerns due to legal situations the program might provoke. The program is designed to allow users download content from various video sharing sites, it is not mentioned anywhere that the program promotes the ilegal downloads of certain videos found on these sites. If there are steps to be taken before considering including this package in the Multiverse repository then I will be glad to follow them, this way any Ubuntu user can enjoy the application. As shown on the features list, this program does not fully concentrate on downloading content, it also allows you to do very simple editing of videos such as rotation and stretching, meaning this application has many uses.

PyTube is written in Python.

TonyBlog has it (may be an old version) and has adapted it for use on mobile phones (including Nokia).
