Hey, I have the same problem and are looking for a solution as well. I am not sure if you need more system/hardware informations. I added the dmesg output anyway.

I have the same error with ubuntu 14.04, ubuntu 14.10 and I tried Linux Mint (with is the same then ubuntu 14.04) as well. Just on ubuntu 14.04 I have the "... broken pipe" message additional to the normal output.
