On my Laptop, an Inspiron 15R that uses the EUFI firmware, my brightness settings and the brightness up/down keys do nothing. This is normally fixed by adding the line "GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash"" to /etc/default/grub, running "update-grub", then restart my computer, but that didn't work anymore.
When I installed Linux Mint 16 Cinnamon 64bit on my laptop selected the option to encrypt my partition with LUKS, the above fix doesn't work anymore.
