Dbeaver scratches a big itch in Ubuntu, because you can connect to almost any type of database with it. I use it at work constantly. Its a super application; it's way better than any other db tool I've ever used. You can manage all your different databases from one Management Console (mysql, MSSQL, db2, and many more).
Please package this! The current deb installer doesn't get the permissions quite right; you have to run dbeaver with sudo or the menus get corrupted: /bugs.launchpad .net/ubuntu/ +source/ linux/+ bug/1218687
