I'd love to see this pulled into the Ubuntu repos as well. The rEFInd author already packages a deb that works with Ubuntu: see the downloads at http://sourceforge.net/projects/refind/files/0.6.8 . I use this package on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS without problem. IMHO, it is a lot simpler to use than GRUB2 on UEFI systems.
