Bug Description

Binary package hint: adept

After running 'Fetch Updates' in Adept Package Manager it offers a 'Version Upgrade'. When I click 'Next' THERE IS this error:

"Could not download the release announcement. Please check that your Internet connection is active."

And there is an active 'net connection or else 'Fetch Updates' wouldn't run [CD-ROM repository is disabled in sources.list].

Bug reported in Feisty Beta and Herd 4 or 5.

For what it's worth I origaninally installed Feisty Testing Herd 4 or 5. Could Adept somehow be trying to upgrade to release version? Is it even necessary given my '/etc/apt/sources.list'?

All of these reports are from before the final Feisty release. Is anyone still experiencing this problem following the Feisty final release

Someone reports this also in Gutsy (please see bug 130985).

I have the same problem. To answer the question in the duplicate: For me it is clean upgrade from the latest Feisty to Gutsy (so it should work).

And me. Is this a poorly mirrored repository issue, perhaps?

Is this still an issue?
Does running adept from the console reveal any hints?

update-manager-kde handles relaese-announcement fetching for intrepid -> intrepid +1 upgrades. As it is all-new code, it shouldn't have this issue.
