This bug is NOT unique to Opteron 6200 series processors, i have the same problem on my FX-8120.
There obviously is an updated glibc with this bug fixed, but its in the "precise-updates" repo, not in "precise". Too bad that debootstrap downloads from "precise" only.
The only solution would be to put the updated glibc in "precise", may it be frozen or not - else debootstrap still will be non-functional under Xen, when the "Long Term Support" runs out.
