The back button in the header is a very small target, I often miss tapping on it. the target area needs to be increased.

I can confirm that too.
Also something similar happens on the other side: right-side actions in the header are often difficult to tap: they either tend to be missed or the last action on the right tends to activate the right edge. I'm told the latter is bug 1320863
