I can confirm it's fixed, as of image 258 (IIRC) and later. The currently-selected file has its title displayed over the icon. Not ideal, but it's a lot better than it was before.

As for the visual design, it seems nice if there are only a dozen or two songs on the device. For my purposes though, it's pretty useless (5000+ songs on the device).
