Note that the new tabs that we are implementing in the UITK will work much better on desktop than the current tabs in UITK. It will also have an option to show tab buttons directly in the header, similar to desktop tabs so probably this bug report is not valid anymore. At least we would need some feedback from design on desktop apps.
