Check out "Conquest of Champions" on steam.

It's made by the main bulk of the original Octopi guys, since their non-compete ran out some years ago. It avoid many of the pitfalls that Pox didn't, and is so far shaping up to be a very good game for old Pox fans.

There's certainly a fair share of problems, but the devs have learned a LOT about analysis and iteration since they worked on Pox. It's absolutely worth checking it out.
