O.K., I now see the issue. What can I say, I missed it several times, sorry.
Yes, the "dash" button seems to have had some minor change and I didn't observe the change in a couple of screen shots that I did not update for 13.10. Without your specific note "the dash button looks old", I would have missed it again. They will be fixed for 14.04, but not until later in the cycle.
