the alternative fix notes are not complete, you need to edit the sources list changing every http://ports.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-ports to http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu and you need to work from terminal with apt-get update, apt-get upgrade and apt-get dist-upgrade -f to get upgraded to 10.04.2
