For a really simple workaround (which assumes you previously installed 2.6.31-18 from proposed, and that may leave you insecure), hold down shift as you boot so that the grub menu displays, then click down to the previously installed 2.6.31-18 using the down arrow, and press enter. It'll take a little extra time to boot, but you should then be up and running on 2.6.31.18 and both the camera and usb port should work.
