1) The Netbook is my only 32-bit machine, and I didn't envision that a compile would take so long.
Furthermore, with only compiling to a bzImage and replacing an exisitng (identical, except the udelay value) one, this method is down to less than 10 minutes. Setting up a distcc / cross-compiler would have been more elaborate.
Just mentioning that I'm well aware of the options here.
