I confirm the problem too with PS3 internal bluetooth and bluez. PS3 newest firmware 2.80 and Logitech DiNovo edge bluetooth keyb. Xubuntu 9.04 ( 2.6.28.6-powerpc64-smp )

1. Using PS3 own bluetooth pairing throught bluetooth-wizard goes well, have to give pin and press enter. Pairing looks good, but nothing happen's when keyboard is pressed. ( Bluez 4.37 )

2. Can add the keyboard through terminal by command "sudo hidd --search xx:xx:xx:xx:xx" works well ( Connect button have to be pressed on keyb ) till next reboot. Doesnt regonize it from kboot to gnome login. You will need bluez-compact to use hidd, as descriped before. Problem is have to do this every boot throught alternative usb keyboard. And keyboard stops respond after some time ( ~5mins )

3. Added "sudo hidd --search xx:xx:xx:xx:xx" line to "/etc/rc.local", doesnt work. Only way work is to press "Connect" button after kboot. Keyboard stop to respond in some time ( ~5mins ).

Finally after week of reading post's and trying different solution's got it work with Logitech DiNovo's own BT dongle.

And the solution was pretty simple. Uninstalled Bluez "sudo apt-get remove bluez". Inserted the dongle to PS3, connected keyboard to dongle ( pressing connect from KB and BT dongle ). Rebootet linux. Works great from kboot to gnome. Reconnect's well back after ( ~5mins ) when the keyboard goes off. only 1-2 sec delay.
