Terminal desktop launchers don't run properly

Bug Description

On a freshly installed Ubuntu 14.04 MATE I have noticed if you run a terminal application from the main menu you get this error...

Could not launch 'Htop'
Failed to execute child process
"xterm" (No such file or directory)

You can test this by installing something like htop...

apt-get install htop

Which you'll see adds a desktop entry in System Tools, clicking it results in this error. It also happens with any desktop launcher that has Terminal=true.

I'm not saying we need 'xterm' to be included in this release as default - but we do need to make sure mate-terminal is executed instead of xterm in these circumstances.

This is *NOT* a duplicate of bug #1001902.

This isue is not xdg-open related, it should remain open until a fix is implemented.

A workaround for those experiencing this issue (and don't want to install xterm) is this...

sudo ln -s mate-terminal /usr/bin/xterm

Yes, this really is a duplicate of #1001902

Martin, I agree with Steven, it's not a duplicate of #1001902 but really a duplicate of #1238964. This is a Glib bug, see the related Debian bug report (and my patch).
